of 3 domains which constitutes "Les Vignobles Assémat". The 3 domains
are Les Garrigues 6 ha., Domaine Castel Oualou 52 ha. both situated in
Roquemaure, and Domaine de Causses &
Saint Eynes 32 ha. situated in St Laurent
des Arbres.
The beginning dates back to the 1961, when Jean-Claude Assémat's mother
Marie Pons-Mure purshased Castel Oualou after returning to France from
Northern Africa. Since then the 2 other domains have been acquired by her
son-in-law Jean-Claude Assémat. Today the domains are run by
the third generation Jean-François
Assémat who took over after the death of Jean-Claude in 1988 and he is then
the third generation at the estate. Jean-François is educated as an oenolog.
The buildings of the estate are closely
connected to another well known estate Chateau
Saint Roch. Some time in the past the two domains had been one.
A wall was build in the midle of the cave then.
A part of the production is sold to negociant.
