The history of this cooperative dates back to
1897 when a private vine grower Ferdinand Delaye
established cellars in Visan. Other vine growers brought their grapes to him to
have them vinified. The wines were called Côtes du Rhône Visan. Delay
participated as a soldier in the war 1914-18 and in in 1922 he died as a result
of his wounds. His wife and a nephew continued the negociant firm until 1937
when the cellars were purchased by the 88 vine growers who used to deliver
grapes. A new cooperative was born.
Today it is a modern cooperative
with 370 members. Around 90% of the wine from the fields of
commune is made here.
