Caravinsérail is a wine story. The name echoes the caravansary of the desert, a propitious place for travelers to rest, meet and relax in a congenial atmosphere. In partnership with skilled winemakers, Caravinsérail produces wines of quality and pleasure from grapes of the South of the Rhone valley terroirs and of the Ventoux appellation in particular. Thus « in fine », the first born, is the result of a careful selection of two traditional AOC Ventoux grapes, grenache and syrah.
The project was born in 2002 from the association of two winemakers : Jean Marot, who owned at the time the Domaine Le Murmurium, and Raphaël Trouiller, who had just created the Domaine de Cascavel with another partner. Caring for the environment and eager to make authentic wines, they both adopted organic farming standards. Caravinsérail grew bigger; it has been and still is extending its offer with wines from the AOCs of the South of the Rhone Valley and Vins de Pays from the same area. It ranges from light and easy wines at a very affordable price, to more elaborate and complex cuvees for special occasions. With the same deep concern for farming practices, all wines come from sustainable estates and, hopefully soon, organic vineyards.
Today, Raphaël is exclusively dedicated to Caravinsérail. The vineyards of the Domaine de Cascavel have been sold in 2009 but the name and the spirit of Cascavel remain vivid in the high-end cuvées. Didier Robert, who has been the two winemakers’ oenologist for several years, takes now an active part in the wine selection. His expertise as manager of the Oenologist Office (ICV) in Beaumes de Venise, added to his extended knowledge of the terroirs and producers of the region, is a valuable asset to the company. Jean has withdrawn from Caravinsérail a few years ago but is still a regular and appreciated taster, as well as a close friend.
Caravinsérail sells its wines in France and abroad, namely in the Benelux, Germany, Denmark, the United States and Japan. Specific projects are carried out for customers who wish to have their own customized wine. Caravinsérail is aiming at and looking forward to strengthening and extending its partnership with its clients in France and abroad
