Jean Marot was at
first educated as a farmacist, but he decided to become a wine
grower. 1995-2005 he made well known wines from domain Murmurium
in Mormoiron. Some problems made it necessary to sell this domain.
(The new owner of Murmurium sells his wines to a negociant.)
With the name Vindemio (I'm
harvesting) Jean Marot now makes wines from 13 ha. situated in
Mormoiron and Villes-sur-Auson.
So far there are no cellars at his house in St. Honorat he makes
his wines at a friend`s cellar in Bedoin who has some space left.
Vindemio is owned by the son Guillaume (21 years old in 2009) and
5 friends/investors. Guillaume is so far working as a sommelier in
Paris.
The vineyards are
certified agriculture biologique since 2007 and will soon be
certified biodynamic.
Jean
Marot makes three red cuveés and one white. No wood is used. Fermentation
and ageing takes place in concrete tanks.
Marot finds it important that you can feel the terroir and that the wines can
be enjoyed quite young. They don't have to be able to age for more
than a decade.
Ventoux Regain
60% Grenache and 40% Syrah.
Ventoux Blanc Regain
80% Clairette and 20% Grenache Blanc.
Ventoux Imagine
50% Grenache and 50% Syrah.
Ventoux Amadeus
80% Grenache and 20% Syrah.
