AOC Ventoux
The appellation was established 23 July 1973 named Côtes du
Ventoux.
From 1953-1973 the appellation was a VDQS area.
Since 1 November 2008 the name has been Ventoux.

Vineyards insite the appellation are situated in 51 communes:
Apt,
Aubignan, Beaumettes, Beaumont-du-Ventoux, Bédoin, Blauvac, Bonnieux, Cabrières-d'Avignon,
Caromb, Carpentras, Caseneuve, Crestet, Crillen-le-Brave, Entrechaux, Flassan,
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Gargas, Gignac, Gordes, Goult, Joucas, Lagnes, La
Roque-sur-Pernes, Le Barroux, Le Beaucet, Lioux, Loriol-du-Comtat, Malaucène,
Malemort-du-Comtat, Maubec, Mazan, Méthamis, Modène, Mormoiron, Murs, Pernes,
Robion, Roussillon, Rustrel, Saignon, Saumane, Saint-Didier,
Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveron, Saint-Martin-de-Castillon, Saint-Pantaléon,
Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols, Saint-Saturnin-d'Apt, Venasque, Viens, Villars et
Villes-sur-Auzon.
Allowed grape varieties:
For
red and rosé:
Primary varieties (Cépages principaux): Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault,
Mourvedre and Carignan.
Secondary varieties (Cépages secondaires): Picpoul Noir, Counoise, Clairette,
Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.
Carignan must not count for more than 30%. The secondary varieties together must
not count for more than 20%.
For
white wines:
Primary
varieties (
Cépages principaux): Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc.
Secondary
varieties
(Cépages secondaires): Roussanne, which must count for up to 30% of
the blend.
Temporary
rule:
Some varieties planted before 10.11 1994 can be used in the blend of red and
white wine until 2014.
