The first vines on this property were
planted in 1875, approximately 1 ha. In 1926 the first
private cellar in Rasteau (Cave Nicolet) was constructed here and the vines took over from cerials in the
fields.
Grenache and Carignan were planted at that time.
Jean Pierre Bertrand became the owner in 1999 following his father-in-law.
He now owns 30 ha. all situated in Rasteau When Rasteau becomes CRU 4 ha. will
be in Cotes du Rhone.
Some part af the production is sold to the
co-operative (from 10 ha.) or to a negociant (from 8 ha.)
Wines:
Cotes du Rhone Village Rasteau
80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. 15% aged in one-year-old barriques.
Cotes du Rhone Village Rasteau Les Esqueyrons
50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. Aged in one or two-years-old barriques.
Cotes du Rhone
85% Grenache 10% Syrah and 5% Carignan.
Cotes du Rhone Rosé
50% Grenache, 40% Cinsault and 10% Syrah.
Vin Doux Naturel
100% 80-years-old Grenache. Aged in three-years-old barriques for 12 months.
Vin Doux Naturel Rosé
100% 80-years-old Grenache. Direct press. Aged in cement tank for
three years.
