The cooperative was established in 1925. Today wines from approximately 700 ha are vinified here.
Approximately 80 wine growers sell all or part of the yield to the co-operative.
98% of the vinified wine comes from AOC-areas, Cotes du Rhone 35%, Cotes du Rhone Village 10%, Rasteau 50% and Rasteau Doux Naturel 5%.

In 2006 the cooperative has bought Domaine de Pisan with 15 ha. and since the the wines from this domain's vineyards has made separately and sold with the name. For different reasons most of the vineards have sold been again.
In 2006 a new brand was created "ORTAS", to make it easier to consumers to recognize the wines. "OR": gold. "T": the central letter in the word Rasteau. "AS": ace.

In 2015, the cooperative started ccoparation with the cooperative in Visan, which was later extended to include the cooperative in Sablet.
The cooperation takes place in a body called the Cercle des Vignerons du Rhone. The purpose of the cooperation is to exploit synergies in marketing and to offer a wider selections from different appellations. The participating cooperatives will continue to be independent production units.
