Vignoble Charles Tyrand has been in the family's ownership since 1791. The domain name was officially established 200 years later in 1991. Jean-Michel became the first in the family to receive a proper education (BTS viti oeno), and he made his first wines in 1989, while the property was still owned by his parents Maurice and Thérèse and an uncle Jean Tyrand. 
The wine cellar were built in 1991-1993 - the same celler is still in use.
The vineyards cover 30 ha some of them situated at a very high altitude.
