This family certainly has a long history as wine growers. A historic record
from 1422 tells: "Raymondi Saladini de Trihano item uno planterium situun
in Chalveyrono"
The lieu-dit Chaveyron is still in possession of the the family and of
course a wine from there is called "Chaveyron 1422".
Since 2005 the two sisters Marie-Laurence and Elisabeth Saladin have been in
charge at the domain. They are the 21nd generation! They have both had an
education making them able to stand up for the challenges in a globalised world
of wine. Marie-Laurence has attended oenological schools and Elisabeth has a
commercial education.
Louis Saladin has retired but is still working at the domain. Annick Saladin has
for years been running a restaurant "Le Mazet" in St Marcel d'Ardèce.
Today she has handed over the restaurant to her son from her first marriage
Stéphane Saladin.
The domain covers 12 ha. Cotes du Rhone and
Cotes du Rhone Village.
At the domain is also made wines from 6 ha. vineyards belonging
to a family member.
Since 2010 the wines are certified as agriculture biologique.
This way to cultivate has been practised by
the father Louis for many years,
Several cuvées are made for in this way to express
the different terroirs at the domain.
Cotes du Rhone Village Blanc "Per Èl"
The name of the cuvé means "For her". In
the beginning Louis made this white
wine for his wife to serve at her restaurant. It's made from 40%
Clairette Rose, 20% Marsanne, 20% Grenache Blanc, 10%
Viognier and 10% Bourboulenc.
Cotes du Rhone Rosé "Tralala!"
Probably the name signalises a Vin du Plaisir. It's made
from 60% Cinsault, 20% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Carignan and 5%
Clairette Rose.
Cotes du Rhone "Loï"
The wine is named after the father Louis. It's made from 70%
Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Carignan and 5% Bourboulenc.
Cotes du Rhone Village "Fan dé
Lune"
The expression Fan dé Lune should be used in Provence to
say that something is perfect. It's made from 40% Mourvedre, 40%
Syrah and 20% Grenache.
Cotes du Rhone Village "Chaveyron
1422"
From lieu-dit Chaveyron, where the family has owned vineyards
since 1422.
Made from 95% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre.
Vin du Pays "Haut Brissan"
Made from 100% Grenache.
The wine made for the family member is called "Cuvée
Paul" |
