Pierre Varenne inherited the fields of Gigondas from his parents in 1974 and his wife Marie-Claude inherited the fields of Sablet. 
Since 2001 his daughter Cécile who is an educated oenolog has assisted her parents by the wine making.
 
The domain covers 7 ha., 4 ha. in Gigondas with rather old vines, a bit less than 3 ha. in Sablet and 0,5 ha. in Vacqueyras.

The road to biological certification has started and can be expected from 2012.

Wines:

Gigondas Cécile
80% Grenache, 20% Syrah and Mourvedre.
Aged in tank or barrels.

Gigondas Goutte Noire
The best part of the harvest from the oldest vines. Only made in good vintages.
Normally 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. 
Very small production. The price for 2007 is 24,5€. 
Reasonable price for such a good wine.

Vacqueyras
75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. 

Cotes du Rhone Village Sablet
60% Grenache and 40% Syrah.

Cotes du Rhone Village Sablet Blanc
Roussanne, Marsanne, Bourboulenc, Viognier and Clairette.
