Gabriel
Meffre was born in a wine grower family, but no one could foresee that he -
when he founded a negociantfirm in 1936 - would become the owner of the
biggest amount of hectares of AOC-vines in France - more than 900 ha -
before his disease in 1987.
After the disease of Gabriel
Meffre his empire was divided between his inheritants.
His
daughter Sylvette - married Brechet - became the owner of Chateau
de Vaudieu in Chateauneuf du Pape.
His
son Christian Meffre inherited Chateau Raspail
and other properties.
The
negociant firm was inherited by other descendants with the name Gabriel Meffre.
In 1997 this firm purchased Domaine
de Longue Toque in Gigondas and made this estate the headquarter of the
firm.
Since
2009 the company has been owned by Eric
Brousse and Boisset.
