The Steinmaier family has its roots in Vienna.
In the 1930'ties they emigrated to France and settled in Chalon-sur-Saône. In
1965 Guy Steinmaier purchased a vineyard in Saint-Gervais. Some years later in 1973 he
purchased further 10 ha. and buildings with
old cellars. The cellars were originally constructed in the 16th
century.
In the 1980'ties the brothers
Jean and Alain Steinmaier took over from their father.
Today the domain covers 35 ha.
Alain Steinmaier is responsible for fields
and cellars. His brother Jean works elsewhere, but his wife takes care of
visitors at the domain.
The vinification is traditionel. The wines are
aged in cement tanks except a cuvée of Syrah which is aged in barriques. The
Maceration period is relativly short 8-15 days.
The wines have a long ageing potential. You can
taste and buy several old vintages at the domain, Notre Dame des
Cellettes 1986, Mourillons 1996 and Saint-Gervais 1986.

Equal shares of Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Viognier.
