Jean Versino's forefathers came from Italy. In
1955 he started wine production in Chateauneuf du Pape. Today his son
Jean-Paul Versino runs the domain.
Wines are from 16 ha.
AOC Chateauneuf du Pape of which 6 ha. is leased. 27 separate parcels are
spread around in the appellation.
The domaine is during conversion into agriculture biologique.
Wines
Chateauneuf du Pape
65% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah and 5% other varieties.
The age of the vines is 40-80 years. Yield: 28 hl./ha.
It is matured in big casks,
which have been used for beer in Alsace, for about 18 months.
Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée des Félix
Since 1998 a special cuvée called Cuvée des Félix, is made from 65%
Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and the rest is Syrah and other
varieties. It's matured in small old oak barrels for about 18 months.
It counts for about 10% of the production.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
Made from less than 1 ha.
35% Clairette, 35% Grenache Blanc, 15% Roussanne and 15% Bourboulenc
