The Mayard family has been winemakers for 5 generations. Didier, Françoise (the winemaker) and Béatrice manage 43 hectares in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation with a production of about 140,000 bottles including 10,000 to 15,000 bottles of white. From January 2007 Alain Narjoux assists Françoise in the cellars. He has for 13 years been in the cellars at Vieux Télégraphe.

The estate has about fourty different plots, with two main parcels: one of 17 hectares in the south, the other one of 8 hectares on the "Crau" plateau in the north-east.

3 different cuvées of Chateauneuf du Papes are produced: Clos du Calvaire, Domaine du Père Pape and Crau de Ma Mère.

Clos du Calvaire was founded by the grandparents of the owners today Marie Louise and Alphonse Mayard who were pioneers of sales in bottle. Their sales register (dated 1923) shows a large commercial activity.

Chateauneuf du Pape Close du Calvaire Blanc
Grenache Blanc,
Clairette, Bourboulenc, Roussanne and Picpoul. It's vinified in stainless steel vats. The must obtained from them is first subject to a cold-settling process. The ageing on lees extends until spring time. Bottling is done early (May/June)

Chateauneuf du Pape Clos du Calvaire
70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Complete de-stemming is used for all wines. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats containing approximately a hundred hectolitres. This cuvée is aged in cement tanks for 12-18 months. (40.000 bottles)

Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine du Père Pape (65.000 bottles) is based on vines from all the different plots of the estate. It's made from 65% Grenache, 20%  Syrah and 15% Cinsault. This cuvée is aged in foudres (1/3) or in cement tanks for 12-18 months.

Chateauneuf du Pape Crau de Ma Mere (25.000 bottles) comes from a selection of very old vines located on the "Crau". One of the plots was planted after the phylloxera outbreak of 1866. The owners' father named the wine in memory of his mother. Until the 2003 vintage, this cuvée was a blend of 80 % Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Since the 2004 and 2005 vintages more Mourvèdre have been used, up to 20%, from younger vines. This cuvée is aged in new foudres for 12-18 months.
