Laurent Charvin has followed his father Gerard Charvin as the 6. generation at the property founded in 1851.

The domain covers 8 ha of Chateauneuf du Pape, 12 ha of Cotes du Rhone and 2 ha of Vin du Pays.
Some of the yield is sold to negociants.

When it comes to direct sale Charvin says on his homepage:

"The care and management of a family vineyard is a full-time occupation and at times we regret that we are not able to spend more time with our clients and other wine-lovers.
However, we do our very best to welcome those of you who come to visit us and taste our wines with us. Please make an appointment for your visit so that we can plan to be available."

The photo to the right below is from the vineyard around the property. It is illustrative for Charvins view: The main concern must be the work in the vineyards. In the cellar you can spoil the harvest not repair very much.
The very old Grenache plant nearly hiding Charvin grows a few yards from the property and is placed in AOC Cotes du Rhone.

The vineyards are during convertion into agriculture biologique since March 2011.

Wines:

Chateauneuf du Pape
80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre and Vaccarèse.
The vines have an average age of 50 years.
Normally the few old barrels in the cellar are not used for ageing

Cotes du Rhone
Mainly Grenache together with som Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan and Bourboulenc.
Even if you can't buy Chateauneuf at the place this Cotes du Rhone is worth a small detour.

Small production.
