Domaine Girauds property covers 19 ha. of
Chateauneuf du Pape. One of them is with white varieties.
The domain is one of the several properties in Chateauneuf du Pape,
improving the quality of the wines. The reason for that - like seen at
other domains - a son and a daughter (Francois and Marie) has got an
oenological education and have taken over from their father Pierre in 1998. Francois is mainly responsible for the fields and Marie for the
vinification in the cellars.
The parcels are wide spread in the appellation - no less than 64 different
parcels.
Will probably be certified agriculture biologique from 2011.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvée Gallimardes
Equal
parts of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Clairette.
Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition
Normally made from 60%
Grenache, 35% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. The vines have an average age of 70
years. Ageing for 18 months, Grenache/Mourvedre in
cement tank, Syrah in barriques
Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Gallimardes
Has its name from a
lieu-dit named after the big stones. Beneath the roulers the soil is
clayey. The wine is made from 100-years-old Grenache-vines (90%) and the
rest 40-years-old Syrah-vines. The Grenache is aged in cement tank or
steel tank,
and Syrah is aged in barriques.
Red Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Les Grenache de Pierre
From 100% Grenache with an age about 100 years. The soil at the parcel (in
La Crau) is sandy and the age and the sand give this wine a smooth
caracter compared to the other wines from the domain. The wine is aged in
cement tank.
