The history of the firm
begins in 1865 when
Jean-Marie Mommessin founded the firm. He found space for his
activities in buildings which were a part of the abbey in Cluny
near Macon.
From this part of the story comes the key used in the logo of
the firm.

Different
owners have run the firm during the time. Today the owner is the
big firm Boisset.
The headquarter is situated in Quincié-en-Beaujolais
and the cellar facilities are located at Château de Pierreux in
Odenas. Both these places are situated in the Bruilly
appellation, and the main part of the production is Beaujolais
wines. A range of wines from appellations in southern Rhone are
also made, among them Chateauneuf du Pape (Épices),
Gigondas (Épices), Vacqueyras, Ventoux and Tavel. |
