Jean-Marc Diffonty is the 4th generation at the
domain and has been responsible, since his father Félician Diffonty left the
charge in 1993. He was the mayor of Chateauneuf du Pape 1965-1995 and it was him
who in 1958 named the plave Cuvée du Vatican - with blessed by the pope!
The ageing cellar was renovated in 2003 and the vinification
cellar in 2007.
The domain covers 21 ha. of Chateauneuf du Pape and 14 ha.
of Cotes du Rhone
Village.
In 2012 the owners have renamed the name
to Chateau Sixtine
The different cuvées will get new names - one of them
Cuvée du Vatican.
Chateauneuf du Pape
2007: 85% Grenache, 12% Syrah and 3% Cincault/Mourvedre.
Aged for 12 months in foudres or barriques.
Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Sixtine
2007: 55% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre.
Aged for 12 months in foudres, barriques or cement tank.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
2007: 50% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc, 20% Roussanne and 10% Bourboulenc.
30% aged in barriques for 8 months
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Reserve Sixtine
2008: 70% Roussanne and 30% Grenache Blanc.
Aged for 9 months in barriques.
Cotes du Rhone Village
2007: 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Aged in tank or foudres.
