This family property was founded
by Félix Vidal in 1920. Frédéric Boutin the owner since 1997 is 4
generation on the property with 10 hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape
diverted in 8 different parcels in La Crau, Le Boucou, Coste Froid and
Roumiguiere. Furthermore 2 ha. of Vin du Table in the Courthezon area.
The vines have an average age of 70 years and all 13 varieties are represented.
Until 1981 all the yield was sold to negociants. Today it's still the case for
20-30% of the production. Frédéric Boutin is very determined only to bottle
wines of high quality.
Wines:
Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition
70% Grenache, 10% Cinsault, 10 % Mourvedre og
10% Syrah and other allowed varieties. This wine is aged in wood for 12
months.
Chateauneuf du Pape Grande Reserve
The best part of the harvest especially the yield from 100 years old
Grenache in La Crau are used for Grande Reserve. This wine is aged for 18
month in new demi-muids (photo to the right) and 1-3 years old barrels.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
30%
Grenache Blanc, 30% Bourboulenc, 30% Clairette and 10% other varieties. 10% of
this wine is aged in wood and the rest in steel tanks. It's bottled 5-6 months
after the harvest.
