| Domaine de la Vieille Julienne
Jean Paul Daumen The forefathers of Jean Paul Daumen acquired the domain in 1905. The production was then sold to negociants. From the 60ties a small amount was bottled mostly for the family and friends. Jean Paul´s father Maxime Daumen built cellars with new foudres to make and bottle more wine. Jean Paul continued the development at the domain so today it is regarded as one of the best in the appellation. The domain covers 30 ha. The vines have an average age of 60 years. The yield is kept below 20 hl/ha. All grapes are destalked. 80% is aged in foudres and the rest in used barrels.Bio-dynamic principles play quite a role for the work in fields and cellars. The fields of Cotes du Rhone are situated just outsite the border of AOC Chateauneuf du Pape - as well as the domain itself.
