The Chastan family purchased the property in 1956 and today it's run by
father and son Alain and Frédéric. Frédéric essentially
takes care of the cellar and marketing while the father Alain is in the
fields where the work is done with organic methods as far as possible.
The property has only 2,5 ha. in
AOC Chateauneuf du Pape. They also own 25 ha. in Vacqueyras, Gigondas and
Cotes du Rhone
In 2011 conversion into agriculture biologique has started.
Chateauneuf du Pape
95% Grenache og 5% Mourvedre.
Like the wines from Gigondas and Vacqueyras it
spends 2 to 3 years in vats, then 6 to 18 months in foudres according to the
vintage and finally 6 to 8 months in bottles.
Gigondas
90% Grenache and 10% Syrah/Mourvedre.
Vacqueyras
80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah.
Cotes du Rhone
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault og Carignan
