The family Gonnet have been farmers in Bedarrides for about
400 years.
In 1880 Jean Etienne Gonnet settled down at the
place where the domain is situated today. In 1950 the property got
its name by Etienne
Gonnet, the father of the two brothers who have been in charge since 1975. The next
generation Guillaume
and Bertrand Gonnet will be ready to take over in the future.
The domain covers 30 ha in Chateauneuf du Pape,
of which 2,5% are with white varieties. They are situated in the
lieux-dits Font de Michelle,
La Crau, La Pierre Plantée, Chartreuse and Croix de Bois.
Since 2010 the vineyards are during conversion into agriculture
biologique.
In 2002 20 ha in Gard were purchased. They are
situated in the area which in 2005 became Cotes du Rhone Village
Signargues.
Wines:
Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition
70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 10% Cinsault/Counoise/ Terret Noir/ Muscardin.
Grenache is aged in foudres or tank. Syrah and Mourvedre in newer
barriques for about 16 months and then after the blending for 6
months in tank before bottling.
Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Etienne Gonnet
From the same fields but the best parcels as Cuvée Tradition but
without Cinsault. Aged for about 18 months in foudres or barriques.
Only made in good vintages.
Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Elégance de
Jeanne
From 100-years-old Grenache at La Crau. Only made in very good
vintages.
Named after Etienne Gonnet's wife.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette og Bourboulenc.
Roussane aged in newer barriques for 9 months.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvée Etienne Gonnet
50% Roussanne og 50% Grenache Blanc.
Roussanne fermented and aged for 8 months in barriques. Max. 1500
bt.
