The firm was founded in 1781, when Joseph André Vidal,
purchased a vineyard by the river Rhone in Ampuis. The place was handed over
during the generations. About 1900 the name Fleury was added when a wife born
Fleury brought a marriage portion of some amount. 1920-1979 the owner was Joseph Vidal-Fleury.
When he passed away no one in the family wanted to take over and the firm was sold
to Etiène Guigal, who had been a former employee at the firm. Vidal Fleury is operated as an independent
firm.
J. Vidal Fleury owns 10 ha. in Côte-Rôtie,
but the mainpart of the production is negociant wines from the northern
and southern Rhone. Among others
