1986 was the
year of
Christophe Delorme's debut
as winegrower. It did not take a long time before he with only 5 ha. of AOC
Chateauneuf du Pape was able to establish the name of Mordoree as one
of the most welknown of the appellation.
The name Mordorée refers to the local name for a woodcock - his father was a
huntsman. The name of the wine "La Reine des Bois" means Queen of the
Woods.
Delorme has during the years aquired fields and has today a total area of 60
hectares.
In 1993 he bought 5 hectares in AOC Chateauneuf du Pape situated in
La Crau, La Nerthe, Cabrières and Le Bois de la Ville. The other fields are
26 ha in Lirac,
9 ha, in Tavel and 15 ha. in Cotes du Rhone.
All the red grapes are destemmed before fermentation. The maceration period is
quite long - 25 - 30 days - with a relativly high temperature. This should give
a wine with much structure.
From 2010 the 3-years conversion period
has started toward agriculture biologique.
