After an education at the wine university in Montpellier Jean Luc Colombo in 1984 started as a wine consultant in the Rhone area.
He was soon widely known for his views on viticultural and vinification methods: organic methods in the vine yards, destemming of the grapes, a long period of maceration etc.

In 1986 he decided to start making wine of his own and acquired land in Cornas. Today he owns 8 ha. here.
Furthermore from 1994 he has made wine from bought grapes/wines from the Rhone valley.
