André Brunel is together with his wife Lucien the 3.
generation at the estate. At Chemin du Bois de la Ville you will find the office
and ageing cellars, the storing of bottled wines takes place in a former
storehouse for oranges in Sorgues and the vinefication takes place in other
buildings in Chateauneuf du Pape. All needed facilities are there but the
spread situation can give some extra work.
The name of the domain comes from cailloux roulés or galet roulés,
the French name for the big stones of Chateauneuf du Pape.
Les Cailloux has around 18 ha. AOC Chateauneuf du Pape. 2 ha.
is planted with white varieties.
In 1990 Brunel purchased a vineyard located to
the North of Orange in the Cote du Rhone appellation. From here is made a
Cotes du Rhone, Cuvée Sommelongue.
Chateauneuf du Pape
65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 12 % Syrah and
3 % other varieties Around 60 years old vines. Grenache are matured
in enamelled tanks and Syrah and Mourvedre in small barrels 1, 2 or 3
years old. The wine can be drunk relatively young or be cellared for 10 years or
more. The normal production is 60.000 bottles per year.
Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvé Centenaire
Normalt fra 80% Grenache, 12% Mourvedre og 8% Syrah.
Ther blens can vary but the grapes are from vines about 100-years-old. Grenache are matured
in enamelled tanks and Syrah and Mourvedre in small barrels 1, 2 or 3
years old.
The cuvée has been made in good vintages since 1989. The production is about
6.000 bottles.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
80% Roussanne, 10% Grenache Blanc og 10% Clairette.
Domaine André Brunel Cotes du Rhone Cuvée Sommelongue
80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10%
other allowed varieties.
Some bought wine is also made with the mark André Brunel.
André Brunel run together with Laurence Feraud at Domaine du Pegau
a negociantfirm. These wines are made at the different domains but marketed with
the mark Feraud-Brunel.
