From father to son through 300 years. That should bee 10 generations, since André Alary
started at the place in 1692.
Since 1984 the brothers Frédéric and François
Alary have done their part to continue the family tradition.
Today the domain, named after a small chapel (Oratoire), covers 25 ha.
(20 ha. Cairanne and 5 ha. Cotes du Rhone). 5 of them are planted for more than 100 years ago.
80% of the production is red wine from 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah.
18% is white wine (unusual high share ) from 50% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne,
15% Clairette and 5% Viognier.
The remaining 2% is rosé.
The domaine has since 2007 been certified "agriculture
biologique" and is on the road to be certified biodynamique.
The wines:
Cotes du Rhone Village Cairanne Réserve des Seigneurs
60% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah. The vines have an average
age of 50 years. Aged in tanks.
Cotes du Rhone Village Cairanne Cuvée Prestige
60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre.100-years-old vines. Yield:18 hl./ha.
Aged in tanks.
Cotes du Rhone Village Cairanne Cuvée Haut-Coustias
60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache and 20% Syrah.
Aged in foudres for 24 months.
Cotes du Rhone Village Cairanne Blanc Réserve des Seigneurs
70% Roussanne and 30% Clairette
Cotes du Rhone Village Cairanne Blanc Cuvée Haut-Coustias
50% Marsanne, 40% Roussanne and 10% Viognier.
Aged partly in cement tanks and partly in pièces for 12 months
Cotes du Rhone, rouge og rosé.
