in Sablet
Sablet is a small commune covering 11 km2 with about 1.200 inhabitants.

The old part of the town is situated at a hill. Here was a
Roman settlement.
The first historic written source from the 12th
century tells about "Sabletum".
From 1274 until the French revolution 1789 the town belonged
to the church.
The earliest written document telling about Sablet is from 1148 and
the place was then named Sableto - from latin Sabletumm,
meaning sand.
At the highest point of the town you find the church St. Nazaire,
(12th century)
The plaige in 1721 passed by Sablet without casualties. Then the
inhabitants built a chapel, Chapelle St. Roch. placed in the
corner of todays cemetery.
