In 1937 the commune of Sablet was included the
the appellation Cotes du Rhone.
From 1966 wines from Sablet together with some other communes
became Cotes du Rhone Village.
From 1974 the rules allowed to add the name of the commune, Cotes du Rhone Village
Sablet.
In 1935 the wine production had raised to a level, so
that it was decided to found a co-operative cellar, Les
Vignerons Le Gravillas
The wines of the appellation has to be made from
vineyards situated in the commune of Sablet.
It includes red, rosé and white wines.
Sablet commune covers 11.1 km2
The altitude is from 112 to 419 metres.
The grapes
The percentages mentioned below are referring
to the vineyards of the estate
- not to the blend of the single wine.
Rouge and Rosé
Grenache must be
at least 50%.
Syrah and Mourvedre must
together be at least
20%.
Other grapes allowed for Cotes du Rhone, may
not exceed
20%.
White varieties might be used for rosé - as "other grapes".
Blanc
Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Viognier must
be at least 80%
Other grapes allowed for Cotes du Rhone, may
not exceed
20%.
The
level of alcohol must be at least 12,5 % for red wines og 12 % for rosé
and white wines.
The yield may not exceed 42 hl./ha.
