The appellation was approved by INAO 14th October 1947.
The local authorities in Uzès approved the rules 11th October 1945.

Types of wines
Three types of wines can be made red, rosé and white.
According to the Syndicate 80% of the production are red, 14% are rosé and 5%
are white.
Allowed grapes
Red and rosé: Grenache (min. 40%), Syrah and Mourvedre
(together min. 25%), Cinsault and Carignan (max. 10%)
White varieties can be used for rosé for max. 20% of the blend.
White
Primary grapes are Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc. (No single of
those s must count more than 60% of the blend).
Secondary grapes: Ugni Blanc, Picpoul, Marsanne,
Roussanne and Viognier. (none of these varieties must as single variety count
more than 25% and together they must not count for more than 30%.)
Maximum basic yield
42 hl/ha.
Minimum percentage of alcohol
12% for red and 11,5% for white and
rosé
